Curriculum

All Bishop O'Gorman preschools have received Exemplary distinction by the School Administrators of South Dakota Levels of Excellence rating. Our highly qualified, early childhood certified teachers create a supportive and developmentally appropriate learning environment where they guide each child's faith journey, and the development of foundational skills, social/emotional skills, vocabulary skills, and early number understanding through structured activities, creative play, and 'hands-on' learning.

To best serve your child, we offer full day or half day flexible scheduling options for children ages 3-5.

Current Preschool Handbook

The preschool program at Bishop O'Gorman Catholic Schools has been carefully designed to nurture student growth and development through play-based academics in a faith-filled learning environment.

3-Year-Olds

Must be 3 and fully potty trained

Our 3-year-old preschool program provides a wonderful introduction to learning in a classroom environment. Developmentally appropriate activities, aligned with the South Dakota Early Learning guidelines introduce children to faith, language development, reading readiness, number skills and social/emotional development. The curriculum also includes art, music and physical education. This program meets two to five days per week with options to attend half days. Before and after school care is also available.

4-Year-Olds

Our 4-year-old preschool program is a great step in your child's early education. Students will be introduced to Kindergarten readiness skills through developmentally appropriate activities. The curriculum introduces children to faith, language development, reading readiness, number skills, and social/emotional development with curriculum aligned to the South Dakota Early Learning guidelines. The curriculum also includes art, music and physical education. This program meets three to five days per week with options to attend half or full days. Before and after school care is also available.

5-Year-Olds

Bishop O'Gorman Catholic Schools offers a third year of preschool for children who are already 5 years of age and have chosen to wait to start Kindergarten or for students who will turn 5 shortly after the school year begins and do not meet the state age requirement for Kindergarten enrollment. In this program, students will hone their skills in preparation for Kindgarten. Students meet 5 half or full days per week, Monday through Friday. The curriculum builds on Kindergarten readiness skills including reading readiness, number skills, language development, faith development and social/emotional learning as well as art, music, physical education and computer class. Before and after school care is also offered to accommodate your schedule.

Preschool Plus

Preschool Plus is a structured add-on program that is an extension of the preschool curriculum, reinforcing developing skills and concepts. It is offered in companion with the preschool curriculum time during the normal elementary school day hours. The afternoon session includes a scheduled lunch and rest time. This program is great for working parents who don’t have the flexibility to transport children to and from school during their work day. Priced per additional half-day.

Preschool 3: Tuesday/Thursday from 7:45-10:45am
Preschool 4: Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 7:45-10:45am
Preschool 5: Monday-Friday from 11:45am-2:45pm

Preschool Plus* is offered for each group:
Preschool 3: 10:45am-2:45pm T/Th and 7:45am-2:45pm MWF
Preschool 4: 10:45am-2:45pm MWF and 7:45am-2:45pm T/Th
Preschool 5: 7:45am-10:45am
